For milk, read "room rates".
I was sitting with an hotelier pal of mine this morning.
We were looking at competitor room rates.

You might have hotels in your area with the same symptoms: Displaying prices which would challenge Lodge accommodation for being "low".
But these aren't lodges. These are three and four star hotels. What's the point of selling at these banal prices? If they do make a profit from the sale, they won't make much.
As my pal said,
"They're trying to live off skimmed milk".
"We all need a little full fat sometimes". (in other words, you've got to make a profit)
You can only get full fat rates if you get your marketing right.
Daft promotional rates on the internet do nobody any good. Insanely low prices say more to your prospects than any marketing copy ever could.
You're selling at low prices because your not busy enough - you're not busy enough for a reason.
Cut your price - cut your quality - cut your throat.
